Kick Ass Jazz Fest and Galbi Dinner

In a small car for three hours, 4 girls in the back and 2 guys up front, we drove into northern S. Korea (not to be confused with N. Korea) to find Jara Island.

After drinking and dancing for a few hours we had a galbi dinner (grilled chicken, cabbage, rice noodles, and onions).

Then I took a picture of my head.

Some kids climbed playgrounds.

Some kids drank more!

And some rode bicycles. Then the best group had their chance to perform!

Rice Cakes

(In reverse order) How a rice cake is made. The most delicious dessert in Korea.

Some, seen above, are filled with honey and crushed peanuts.
Take note on my friend Dave. I think he doubted my strength.

Placement is key.
The master shows us how it's done.
From the beginning!

The girls!

More from Seoul Forest. The last warm day of summer. On to fall. Although we aren't sure if the leaves will actually change color before the snow hits.

Insadong

Lauren and I went to Insadong, Seoul and browsed through an amazing instruments market and had a very small 6,000 won glass of wine. We came across Korea's gaming generation and then checked out a sky high restaurant that we couldn't afford but it got us out of the rain. It's been raining like Ireland!

Saying Goodbye

Since arriving in Korea and beginning work at the ARIS private school, our director has been fired and our head consultant quit. Although Julie was the source of some troublesome issues, she was there with me and the other teachers through some good and bad times(most of which I have simply been told about). We celebrated Julie's time with us last night at a nearby restaurant and just after sitting I realized that there was going to be a lot of drinking going on. Scott, the new director, came in about an hour later from a "meeting". In Korea this word means drinking and smoking and drinking more. Scott, a man that doesn't normally talk, had plenty to say this time. He also dragged me into doing a "love shot" with him. Keep your thoughts straight, he's my boss, he's married with kids, and he's Korean. There will be no lovin away from taking a harmless shot with the man. Harmless for me, a little more damaging to his state of mind.
